A simple care routine for embroidered tops, kurtis and dresses: how to wash, dry, iron and store them.
Embroidery is what makes a plain top or dress feel special, and it is also the first thing to suffer from rough washing. Loose threads, puckered fabric and faded colours are almost always caused by heat, friction or wringing. A few small habits will keep embroidered clothes looking new for much longer.
1. Read the care label first
Every fabric behaves differently, so the label on your garment always comes first. Treat the steps below as a gentle default for when you are unsure.
2. Turn it inside out
Turning the garment inside out protects the threads from rubbing against other clothes. This matters most for pieces with embroidery along the hem, such as the Floral Embroidered Peplum Top with Balloon Sleeves.
3. Wash cold and gentle
Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent whenever you can. If you use a machine, put the garment in a mesh laundry bag and choose the gentle cycle. Wash bright colours separately the first few times.
4. Never wring

5. Iron on the reverse

Quick storage tips
- Fold heavy embroidered pieces instead of hanging them, so the weight does not stretch the fabric.
- Keep them away from hooks, zips and jewellery that can catch a thread.
- If a thread comes loose, pull it through to the back and knot it. Do not cut it.
